Garena announced it's Garena Professional League (GPL) in May 2012, a six month-long professional gaming league which includes over 100 online matches. In the first season, GPL will be an League of Legends competition which includes six professional teams. These teams feature the very best athletes from their respective countries. GPL games are filmed and broadcast live on-line with commentary. They are accessible for viewing on the GPL's official site. Garena Premier League, 2013 includes two teams that hail from Taiwan as well as Vietnam. The current total of eight teams will be increased to nine. Teams include: AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. The stadium opened in November of 2014. Garena e-Sports Stadium, a space specifically for esports has opened located in Neihu District, Taipei. This studio was partly built to host an event called the League of Legends Masters Series which is the top-of-the-line LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league. The tournament was a spin-off from GPL. In the month of January, Garena launched Iron Solari League which is a women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. This is a bimonthly affair which is held in the second half of every month. The purpose of the event is to increase participation for people who aren't represented, and is available to everyone who defines themselves as a woman. Garena is not only a tournament organizer but also events that are offline as well as events which allow participants to meet.
